Bran Nue Dae

Bran Nue Dae

When searching for a movie to review for my first project people recommended I watch Bran Nue Da. I really dislike it for two main reasons it’s horrible musical singing glossing over every real issue such as the horrible issues of racism/ inequality and its horrible wishy washy Hollywood plot and ending.

The film starts off in Broome  where we meet Willie Johnson (they must have had a hard time thinking up that name)   Basically he is having teenage boy puberty issues and is madly in love with a girl called Rosie who is seeing on older man .  His issues are compounded by the fact that he was to go back to boarding school where he wants  to be a preist this directly contradicts his sexual desires of Rosie and drives his teenage rebellion against the racists German priest who runs the boarding school and his subsequent escape and journey to broome with some random homeless man who his drinking under a bridge and the German pack backers they con to take the from Perth to Broome  and after a long and enlightening journey which everyone is better for they arrive just in time for their soppy cliché Hollywood ending.
